Maibritt Kviesgaard (born May 15, 1986 in Aarhus ) is a former Danish handball player .

Career

In the club

In 2005, Kviesgaard made it into the top division of KIF Vejen . A year later she joined league rivals GOG Svendborg TGI . After GOG got into financial difficulties and the future development of the club was uncertain, the right wing player signed a three-year contract with SK Aarhus in 2009 .

In the summer of 2011, Kviesgaard moved to FC Midtjylland Håndbold . In her first season at Midtjylland, she took part in the Champions League . In December 2011, Kviesgaard contracted a cruciate ligament injury in an international match , which ended the 2011/12 season for her. After an almost 15-month injury break, the left-hander made her comeback for FCM Håndbold in February 2013. In May 2013 she won the Danish championship with Midtjylland. She then moved to Team Esbjerg . Kviesgaard won the Danish championship with Esbjerg in 2016. After the 2017/18 season, she ended her career.

In the national team

Kviesgaard played 114 international matches for the Danish national team , in which they scored 225 goals. With Denmark she took part in the European Championships in 2008 and 2010 . At the EM 2010 she was elected to the all-star team of the tournament. She was also a member of the Danish squad for the 2009 and 2011 World Cup . At the 2011 World Cup, she suffered a serious injury in the second game, which meant that she could no longer intervene in the tournament. Kviesgaard won the bronze medal at the 2013 World Cup and scored six goals in seven games. Before the semi-finals she was taken from the Danish squad by national coach Jan Pytlick .
