The Maison des Chanonges in Embrun , a town in the French department of Hautes-Alpes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur , is a Romanesque building from the 13th century. The building, which is located opposite the cathedral , has been a listed building since 1988 ( Monument historique ).

history

The Maison des Chanonges has served as the residence of the canons who administered the Archdiocese of Embrun since the 14th century . During the French Revolution , the house was secularized and auctioned. Today the city ​​museum is located there .

architecture

The magnificent facade facing the street is divided by twin windows, and in the upper part a relief can be seen depicting a lion devouring a goat. Inside, a coffered ceiling from the 13th century and wall paintings from 1513 are preserved.
