Maksym Anatolijowytsch Kowal ( Ukrainian Максим Анатолійович Коваль ; born December 9, 1992 in Zaporizhia ) is a Ukrainian football goalkeeper who is currently under contract with Dynamo Kiev . He is also a member of the Ukrainian national team .

Career

Kowal comes from the youth of Metalurh Zaporischschja . There he first played in the second team before he guarded the goal of the professional team for the first time on November 1, 2009 in the 3-0 win against Zakarpattya Uzhhorod , because regular goalkeeper Dmytro Besotossnyj failed. At the time, Kowal was only 15 years old. He convinced with good performances, won a regular place and was used in all remaining games of the season. He delivered an outstanding performance against Dynamo Kiev , which made the club aware of him. Shortly after the start of the 2010/11 season, he signed a contract there.

In Kiev he is only a substitute goalkeeper behind Oleksandr Schowkowskyj . He made his debut on August 17, 2010 in qualifying for the Champions League in a 1-1 draw against Ajax Amsterdam and made a good game. Schowskowskyj was injured at this point. Kowal represented him in the 2010/11 season in four other international games and in 12 league games. Also in 2011/12 Kowal was the second goalkeeper at Dynamo Kiev. In the following years he was used regularly. In 2014 it was first awarded to Hoverla Uzhhorod and the following year to the Danish first division club Odense BK .

National team

In June 2011 Kowal was in the squad of the Ukrainian national team . However, he did not play for his first international match until June 1, 2012 when he came on as a substitute in a friendly against Austria at half-time. Due to injuries he was in the squad of Ukraine at the 2012 European Championship .
