Maksymiwka ( Ukrainian Максимівка ; Russian Максимовка Maximowka , Polish Maksymówka ) is a village in the southwest of the Ukrainian Cherkassy Oblast with about 400 inhabitants (2017).
Since November 2017 Maksymiwka belongs administratively to the rural municipality of Palanka in the west of Uman Rajon . In the village there is the St. Paraskevy wooden church ( Церква св. Параскеви ) built in the 17th century .
history
The village, known since the first half of the 17th century, became part of the Russian Empire after the Second Partition of Poland in 1793 . At the beginning of the 1860s there were 822 Ukrainians and 10 Poles, and in 1886 a total of 823 people lived in Maksymiwka. After the October Revolution , the village first belonged to the Ukrainian People's Republic and then to the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union . During the German-Soviet War , Maksymiwka was occupied by the Wehrmacht between July 29, 1941 and March 10, 1944 . After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the village became part of independent Ukraine.
Geographical location
The village is situated at an altitude of 205 m on the banks of Synyzja ( Синиця ), a 79 km long left tributary of the Southern Bug , 16 km south of the community center Palanka , 27 km south-west of Rajonzentrum Uman and about 200 km southwest of the Oblastzentrum Cherkassy . The T – 02–02 territorial road runs east of the village .
