The Mallahle or Malawi or Sorc ali- called, is the average of three stratovolcanoes (together with Asavyo and NaBrO ) in the southern area of the Ethiopian Eritrean border at the southeastern end of the Danakil Alps . It is therefore part of the so-called biduvulcanic complex . It is delimited by a steep six kilometer wide caldera and is characterized by rhyolithic lava flows . The volcano's lateral slopes are covered by basaltic lava flows. Young obsidian can be found on the northwest flank. Older obsidian is found in the northern area of the caldera. It is assumed that there is no connection below the earth's surface to the magma reservoirs of the adjacent volcanoes.
