Malou Airaudo

Malou Airaudo (* 1948 in Marseille) is a French dancer, choreographer and dance teacher from the Pina Bausch Ensemble .

Life

Malou Airaudo began her education at the age of eight at the school of the Opéra de Marseille and danced in an ensemble there. This was followed by engagements with the Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo and the “Ballet Théâtre Contemporain” in Amiens . At the beginning of the 1970s she worked in New York City for Manuel Alum and Paul Sanasardo , where she met Pina Bausch , whom she engaged in 1973 for the Tanztheater Wuppertal she founded . Airaudo became one of the formative dancers of the Tanztheater Wuppertal. She appeared in a variety of Bausch pieces: "Fritz"; "Iphigenia on Tauris"; "Kindertotenlieder"; "Orpheus and Eurydice"; "Café Müller"; "Bandoneon", and danced the solo in "Le Sacre du Printemps". She also worked with Carolyn Carlson and founded the group “La Main” in Paris with Jacques Patarozzi, Dominique Mercy , Helena Pikon and Dana Sapiro.

Since 1984 Airaudo has been a lecturer and professor for dance at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen , where she is head of the Institute for Contemporary Dance. She works as a choreographer for the Folkwang Tanzstudio, the Ballet de Lorraine and the Grand Théâtre de Genève, among others . Her production Irgendwo , created at the “Theater Renegade”, was invited to the dance platform Germany in 2012 .
