Maltby is a census-designated place (CDP) in Snohomish County , Washington State . At the 2010 United States Census , Maltby had a population of 10,830. On a per capita income basis , Maltby ranks 40th in Washington out of 522 territories listed.

Maltby is a civil parish in Snohomish Country; there are currently no plans to achieve city recognition.

history

Maltby was first settled in 1887 and named after the real estate agent Robert Maltby.

Demographics

As of the 2000 census , there were 8,267 residents, 2,824 households and 2,335 families in Maltby. The population density was 190.3 per km ². There were 2,897 housing units at an average density of 66.7 per km².

The population was 64.12% White , 0.29% African American , 0.47% Native American , 2.38% Asian , 0.16% Pacific Islander , 0.64% from other "races" and 1.94% from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 2.13% of the population.

Of the 2,824 households, 41.9% had children under the age of 18, 74.6% were run by married couples living together and 4.5% by single mothers; 17.3% were non-families. 12.3% of the households were singles and 2.8% were single persons over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.19.

The median age in the city was 38 years. 28.5% of the population were under 18, 5.7% between 18 and 24, 31.3% between 25 and 44, 28.5% between 45 and 64 and 6 65 years or older. There were 104.4 men for every 100 women, and 105.1 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.
