Maluala is a Cuban film from 1979. It is the last part of the film trilogy by director Sergio Giral about the Cuban slaves' struggle for freedom. The film won the “Gran Premio Coral” main prize at the International Festival of New Latin American Films in Havana and was dubbed by DEFA . The film was released in GDR cinemas on January 15, 1982.

The Cimarrones, insurgent slaves, fight for their freedom in Cuba . They have founded villages where they can live freely according to their own rules. One of these villages is called Maluala. The Spanish colonial rulers and their bailiffs do everything to play the rebels against each other and to destroy Maluala.
