One is a British rock band formed in 1968 by Micky Jones, Roger "Deke" Leonard , Clive "Clint" John , Ray Williams and Jeff Jones. She played a mix of rock , blues , country , folk, and West Coast rock. After the separation in 1977, the band reformed in 1983 and 1992 and has existed since then. Deke Leonard describes her detailed career in his book Rhinos, Winos & Lunatics , which has been available in German since 2009 and translated by the musician and publicist Jörg Gülden .

Band history

In 1969 two albums by Man were released: Revelation and 2 Ozs of Plastic (With a Hole in the Middle) . In 1970 Ray Williams and Jeff Jones left the band, followed by Martin Ace and Terry Williams. In the same year the album Man was released , followed in 1971 Do You Like It Here Now, Are You Setting In? . In the 72 production Be Good to Yourself at Least Once a Day Leonard left the band temporarily, Ace and John had also left the band. Instead, Phil Ryan and Michael "Will" Youatt featured on the album.

Tweke Lewis joined the band in late 1973. Man's first US tour in the spring of 1974 was very successful. In the same year there was another line-up change. Leonard returned to the band. Ken Whaley and Malcolm Morley also came. With Back Into the Future Man entered the British charts for the first time. The LP Slow Motion was also released .

With Rhinos, Winos and Lunatics (1974) and Maximum Darkness (1975) you could repeat the success of Back Into the Future . Even before the release of the critically acclaimed 76 LP The Welsh Connection , there were differences of opinion within the band. On the farewell tour in 1977 through the USA , Europe and North Africa , the album All's Well That Ends Well was recorded.

In 1983 Man was reunited with Leonard, Ace, Jones and ex Gentle Giant drummer John Weathers. Friday 13th was released that same year .

Another reform took place in 1992 with Ace, Jones, Leonard and Weathers and the album Twang Dynasty . This was followed by Call Down the Moon (1995), Rare Man (1999), Endangered Species (2000), Undrugged (2002) and Man Alive (2003).

A personnel change now brings musicians of two generations onto the stage: In addition to Martin Ace, there are also his son Josh (guitar, keyboards), the 90s drummer Bob Richards and the son of the legendary guitarist and Man founder Micky Jones, George (guitar, vocals ) with one of the party. The album Diamonds and Coal shows that you are still musically present.

The album Kingdom of Noise was recorded in England and Germany in 2009 with Martin Ace, Josh Ace, Phil Ryan, Bob Richards and René Robrahn. Man can be seen live with Josh and Martin Ace, Phil Ryan, James Beck and René Robrahn.

In 2015, the album Reanimated Memories, Live was recorded in England. Martin Ace (vocals and bass), Josh Ace (vocals and guitar), Phil Ryan (vocals and keyboards), James Beck (vocals and guitar) and Rene Robrahn (drums).
