Management consulting

The management consultancy or strategy consulting ( Engl. Management Consulting ) is a branch of the consulting firm that deals with the problems of management of companies busy and this advises professional and independent in finding solutions. Furthermore, governments , authorities , international institutions and start-ups can also belong to the customer base.

Management consulting focuses on:

  • Strategy , e.g. B. Group, competitive and growth strategies, business models, transactions
  • Organization , e.g. B. Restructuring, cost reduction, process optimization, organizational development
  • Leadership , e.g. B. corporate culture, leadership, management systems, personnel development
  • Production , e.g. B. Production program, productivity increase, lean management
  • Logistics , e.g. B. procurement, supply chain management, increased efficiency
  • Marketing , e.g. B. Brand management, product management, pricing, sales policy, PR, customer management

Based on this, management consulting can be distinguished from the other sub-areas of management consulting . Due to its demanding clientele and the complexity of the issues, management consulting is the supreme discipline within management consulting. In comparison to other consulting service providers , management consultants achieve by far the highest daily fees .

The demands on this group of people are correspondingly high, especially in the area of methodological competence . Reports from international management consultancies such as the Boston Consulting Group or McKinsey show that only around two percent of all applicants meet the recruitment criteria and make the leap there.

Other well-known, internationally active management consultancies are above all Bain & Company , Strategy & (formerly Booz & Company) and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants . These companies cover a wide range of consulting services and have built up competencies in a large number of industries . There are also specialized management consultancies that focus on a specific topic or industry, such as Simon, Kucher & Partners , zeb or Horváth & Partners .
