history

After his master’s degree from Northwestern University in 1914 on psychological tests for professional aptitude, Edwin G. Booz founded his own company in Chicago to produce studies and statistical analyzes for the economy. A year later he started a joint venture called “Business Research & Development Company”. The company studied the competitive conditions in various industries. After four years, Edwin Booz founded "Business Engineering Service" in 1919.

The first customer was State Bank & Trust in Evanston (Illinois) , which also granted him a loan. The company was renamed "Edwin Booz Surveys" in 1924 and George Fry was hired as the second employee in 1925. Jim Allen joined the company as a third employee in 1929, and Carl Hamilton joined the company six years later. In 1936 the company was reorganized as a partnership and renamed B "Booz, Fry, Allen & Hamilton". Booz & Company was also active in the field of executive search ( personnel consulting ) until the 1980s . Sidney Boyden , who later founded his own company, was one of the leading partners here.

From August 2008 the strategy consultancy Booz & Company was independent of the technology consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton ; The latter is a leading company in the field of military services for the US Department of Defense alongside Halliburton . Booz & Company was represented in German-speaking countries with the opening of an office in Düsseldorf since 1965 . Further offices were opened in Munich , Frankfurt am Main , Berlin , Vienna , Zurich , Stuttgart and Hamburg . The German federal government was also advised by Booz & Company.

In 2014 PricewaterhouseCoopers took over Booz & Company. Since then the company has been operating as Strategy & as an independent part of the PwC company network. While Strategy & premises are often housed in the same building as PwC, the company operates under an independent brand identity and checks applicants in an independent application process that is similar to that of other large strategy consultancies.
