Manaia Harbor is a natural harbor on the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand .

The Manaia Harbor is located on the west coast of the Coromandel Peninsula , around 11 km southwest of Coromandel and about 34 kilometers north of Thames . The natural harbor is around 4.5 km long and has a maximum width of 1.26 km. The water, which is open to the west and heavily silted up towards the end, has a port entrance a good 1100 m wide and has a coastline of around 14.5 km. Directly in front of the entrance to the natural harbor are the two smaller islands Tataweka Island and Wekarua Island , which protect the harbor from the rough sea.
Manaia Harbor, located in the Thames-Coromandel District and belonging to the Waikato region, can be reached from New Zealand State Highway 25 , which connects the water with the town of Coromandel , a few road kilometers further northeast, and the southern course of the west coast of the Coromandel Peninsula .
