Mandylion is the third album by the Dutch band The Gathering . The album was released on August 22, 1995 via Century Media .

History of origin

The album was produced between June 1st and 15th, 1995 by Siggi Bemm and Waldemar Sorychta at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen . It is the first album with the new singer Anneke van Giersbergen . The two predecessors Niels Duffhues and Martine van Loon had previously left the band.

A single was released with "Strange Machines" .

Republication

In 2006 the album was re-released by Century Media. The so-called "Deluxe edition" contains a bonus CD with previously unreleased demo recordings. In addition, the cover artwork has been revised.

Strange Machines (single)

The song "Strange Machines" was released as a single beforehand. With this single the band landed a small hit in the metal scene and was able to increase the band's popularity.

Adrenaline / Leaves ( EP )

In 1996 Century Media released the Adrenaline / Leaves EP. The EP contains two new songs with “Adrenaline” and “Third Chance”. "Third Chance" was re-recorded for the 1997 Nighttime Birds album.
