Manfred Bode (Manager)

Manfred Bode (born March 31, 1941 ; † October 19, 2018 ) was a German industrialist . He was chairman of the supervisory board of the German arms company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann .

Life

Manfred Bode was the son of Fritz Bode and the grandson of August Bode . The Bode entrepreneurial dynasty and the Sethe families own large shares in Wegmann & Co. and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann ; Burkhart Braunbehrens sold his inheritance in 2014.

Bode attended the Waldorf School in Kassel . After studying business administration at the University of Munich, Bode received his doctorate in Cologne. From 1969 he worked for Wegmann & Co. , whose management was in the hands of his father. In 1979 he became a managing partner.

From 1999 to 2005 he was chairman of the management board of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). In 2006 he moved to the supervisory board.

He was involved in the Association of Metal and Electrical Companies in Hesse, in the German Army Support Group and in the Commerzbank South Regional Advisory Board . Bode received the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2007 and the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2009 .

As part of the planned sale of tanks of the type Leopard 2A7 + to the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia was by the artist collective Center for Political Beauty appeals, among others, Manfred Bode to give up the business and a "bounty" awarded if he or other members of his Family can be convicted of a crime and a conviction of at least 2 years in prison results.

In February 2017 it became known that the Munich public prosecutor's office accused Bode of having assessed bribes as tax-reducing operating expenses in Krauss-Maffei Wegmann's tax returns .
