Manfred Deckers

Manfred W. Deckers (born February 16, 1934 in Duisburg-Hamborn ; † June 25, 2020 ) was a German mining scientist and professor of mineral processing and building geology .

Life

Deckers grew up in Mülheim- Speldorf and Brackwede near Bielefeld due to the war. After graduating from the Ratsgymnasium Bielefeld , he studied mining engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule  (RWTH) in Aachen . In 1963 he received his doctorate there in mineralogist August Götte for Doktoringenieur (Dr.-Ing.) . After working for Büttner-Werken AG , in 1966 he became a professor at the State Engineering School for Civil Engineering , which he was involved in transferring to the Siegen University of Applied Sciences in 1971 , and then to the later University of Siegen in 1972 . There he held a chair for mineral processing in the civil engineering department until his retirement in 1999 . Between 1989 and 1997 Deckers was Vice-Rector for Finance and Planning in the Sturm Rectorate .
