Manfred Eger

Manfred Eger (born September 17, 1927 in Wallenfels ; died February 29, 2016 in Bayreuth ) was a German journalist, writer and museum director.

biography

Eger's career began in the 1950s in the editorial team of the Bayreuth daily Fränkische Presse , where he worked as a culture editor and critic , as he later did for the Nordbayerischer Kurier . In 1973, Lord Mayor Hans Walter Wild entrusted the Richard Wagner researcher with the management of the Richard Wagner memorial , which he transferred to Wagner's Wahnfried residence in Bayreuth and expanded to become the Richard Wagner Museum. In addition, he played a key role in setting up the Jean-Paul and Franz Liszt museums in Bayreuth .

Eger designed exhibitions and broadcasts on the subject of Richard Wagner. He has written numerous publications, including several books.
