Manfred Jäger (motor sportsman)

Manfred Jäger (born March 12, 1950 in Grießbach ) is a former German enduro athlete . He is married and has two children.

After his apprenticeship as a test fitter, Jäger began in 1968 at MC Motorradwerk Zschopau in the 250 cc class with competitive enduro sport. In the following year he switched to the MZ factory team . From then on, he took part in the European championship runs and the Six Days every year. In 1970 Manfred Jäger switched to the 350 cm³ class. From 1971 to 1974 he moved to ASK Vorwärts Leipzig . In 1973 he was third in the GDR championship and in 1974 second.

As a works driver for MZ, Jägerin dominated the national championship in the 500 cc class from 1975 to 1977, which he won each time.

With the trophy team, Manfred Jäger finished second at the Six Days in 1972 , 1977 , 1978 , 1979 and 1980 and third in 1976 and 1981 . At the European Championships he was third from 1973 to 1975, second in 1977 and in 1978 he won the championship. Jäger was the only MZ pilot in the class for motorcycles with 500 to 750 cc, which existed from 1977. A motor with more than 500 cm² was specially developed for this.

In 1982 Manfred Jäger moved to Germany and ended his sporting career. His son Thomas Jäger (* 1976) drove in the DTM for a while .
