Manfred Kress

Manfred Kreß (born April 11, 1937 ; † May 24, 2008 ) was a German football player who played 96 games with 17 goals in the Oberligen Süd and West between 1955 and 1963 .

career

League football, 1955 to 1963

The 18-year-old amateur Manfred Kreß made his debut on the fourth match day of the Oberliga West round 1955/56, on September 11, 1955, in the away game of Schwarz-Weiß Essen at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Uhlenkrug league team. Coach Karl Winkler entrusted the talent in the ETB attack with the left connector position and was rewarded with a 2-1 away win and the goal of the league newcomer in the 27th minute of the game for a 2-0 lead. At the side of top performers Edmond Kasperski and Hubert Schieth , the technician on the left wing completed 20 games with five goals. Although with Theo Klöckner and Heinz SteinmannIn the 1956/57 season two more talents were able to establish themselves in the ETB regular eleven, SW Essen rose in the summer of 1957 as 15th from the Oberliga West. In this round, Kreß had been in 17 games with three goals for Essen and moved to Munich in the summer of 1957, to the "Löwen" from TSV 1860 .

1860 München had accomplished in the season 1956/57 promotion to the Oberliga Süd and coach Hans Hipp sat 1957/58 Manfred Kress in 12 league games in the Südstaffel and led the upstart to the service providers Johann Auerhammer , Rudolf Koelbl and Alfons Stemmer on the 6th place in the table.

After a round in the south, Kreß moved back to the west and joined the team of coach Kuno Klötzer , Preußen Münster , for the round in 1958/59. Only in the two game years 1959/60 and 1960/61 he belonged to the core team of the Prussians with 21 and 20 missions respectively. In the senior year of the Oberliga West, 1962/63, coach Richard Schneider only used him on matchdays 27 and 28 against SW Essen and Borussia Dortmund. By reaching fourth place in the table, Preußen Münster was nominated for the Bundesliga from the 1963/64 season. Manfred Kreß ended his career in contract football in the summer of 1963 after 47 appearances and nine goals for Münster.

Selection games, 1956 to 1958

The 19-year-old player from SW Essen, Manfred Kreß, made his debut on May 19, 1956 in the international match in Freiburg against France in the German national soccer team of amateurs . Kreß contributed a goal for the DFB team to the 3: 3 draw. Two days later, on May 21, it was also used in the 4-1 win against Scotland in Munich and the talent from Essen scored a goal here too. For the Olympic contingent of the Olympic Games 1956 in Melbourne Kress was not nominated. At the end of the round in 1956/57, on May 15, 1957, he came on the side of Matthias Mauritz , Rolf Geiger , Ernst-Günter Habig and Heinz Hornig for his third assignment in the DFB amateur national team. In Glasgow, the team fought a 1-1 draw against Scotland. At the end of his round at 1860 Munich, he played his fourth international match on May 7, 1958. In Gelsenkirchen, the amateur national team came to a 5-1 win against Curacao. The later Bundesliga players Peter Grosser and Klaus Matischak stormed alongside Manfred Kreß.
