Manfred Maurischat

Manfred Maurischat (born November 20, 1941 in Hamburg ) is a German classical horn player and alphorn player .

Life

Manfred Maurischat grew up on the North Sea island of Langeoog . In his youth he received accordion and later piano lessons. After graduating from school, he attended the orchestra school in Hilchenbach . There he began his studies with the French horn. After attending school for a year, the school was closed for financial reasons. Manfred Maurischat was accepted at the Northwest German Music Academy Detmold . There he studied with Gustav Neudecker . Already during his studies he became a member of the Detmold wind group under the direction of Jost Michaels .

After his studies he was a member of the symphony orchestra of the Südwestfunk Baden-Baden, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (1970–1972) and first horn player of the Basler Orchester-Gesellschaft (BOG) before he only became a soloist. He won a prize at the German broadcasting competition in Saarbrücken.

In addition to the French horn, the alphorn became his trademark. Composers such as Eike Reuter , Gustav Gunsenheimer , Stig Gustav Schönberg and Erich Stoffers wrote alphorn works for him.

Maurischat lives in Bad Salzuflen .
