Manfred Pernice
Manfred Pernice (* 1963 in Hildesheim ) is a contemporary German artist.
life and work
From 1984 to 1987 Pernice studied graphics and painting at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig and from 1988 to 1993 sculpture at the Berlin University of the Arts . In 1994 he became a master student. In 1997 he received a work grant from the City of Bremerhaven , in 1998 a grant from the Berlin Senate Department for Science, Research and Culture and from 2001 - 2003 a grant from the Günther Peill Foundation .
Pernice mainly works with materials such as cardboard and wood . His three-dimensional objects are reminiscent of architectural models or everyday objects. Their size varies between a few cubic centimeters and space-filling works. His Dosenweg in Hamburg could be seen in the open air in 2000 . Peter Herbstreuth describes his impressions of Pernice's works as follows: [...] the reference to Hans Scharoun [becomes] obvious. Some things seem as if Pernice has taken fragments and preliminary studies from the Berlin Philharmonic and State Library as models and affixed advertising plaques and postcards to the model and returned the preliminary design to the model.
