Athletic career

In 1958, at the age of six, Sharon was accepted into the children's team of the company sports community (BSG) unit Rostock. In 1960 the BSG delegated him to SC Empor Rostock. There he went through all the youth teams and was taken over in 1966 by FC Hansa Rostock, which arose from the spin-off of the soccer section of SC Empor. During this time he completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. For the 1970/71 season, Sharon was reported as a new addition to the 2nd team of FC Hansa Rostock, which was represented in the second-rate GDR league at the time. As a right midfielder, the 1.71 m tall Sharon immediately won a regular place with 23 out of 26 possible stakes. After reducing the league season to twelve teams, Sharon completed all 22 point games in 1971/72 and was the top scorer at Hansa II with twelve hits. After another twelve appearances in the second team during the 1972 Hinserie, he came on March 31, 1973 in the encounter FC Carl Zeiss Jena - FC Hansa Rostock (3: 0) as a substitute for Rainer Kaube for his first league appearance. He was followed by ten other first division games, seven of which Sharon played over the full distance, most of them in the position of the left winger. In the 1973/74 season, Sharon again had eight league appearances, but was only used as a substitute with the exception of the last game day. 1974/75 Scharon played point games exclusively in the second team, only in the quarter-final second leg for the GDR soccer cup on December 18, 1974 (FC Hansa - Wismut Aue 1: 2) he was in a competitive game in the league team for the last time.

At the beginning of the 1975/76 season, Sharon moved to the GDR league club BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock . There he completed the first eight point games as a center forward until October 1975, then he had to start his army service. During this time he played for the game community Vorwärts / Motor Teltow in the third-class district league Potsdam . Here he was able to develop his forward qualities to the full and scored 98 goals within 18 months. After that, Sharon returned to BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen, where he stayed until the end of the 1977/78 season, was again called up as a center forward and played all 22 point games. In the summer of 1978 he moved to local rivals TSG Bau Rostock , where coach Heino Kleiminger turned him into a winger. Until 1986, Scharon always played 177 of the 208 league games played for TSG as a striker and thus achieved a stake rate of 85 percent. Only in the 1982/83 season he had an extended loss of 14 games due to injury. From 1984 to 1986 he was team captain. When TSG was relegated from the GDR league in 1986, Sharon ended his career as a competitive footballer at the age of 34. During his time as a football player, he qualified as an engineer-economist.

Sharon remained a member of TSG, even after the changes to TSV Grün-Weiß and Rostocker FC. As a recreational athlete, he still played in the over 50 team, with which he became the top scorer in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Altherrenliga in 2006 with 48 goals. In 2008 Sharon was elected to the legal committee of the association.
