Manfred Schneider (Manager)

Manfred Schneider (born December 21, 1938 in Bremerhaven ) is a German manager . Until April 20, 2016, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RWE AG .

Life

Manfred Schneider studied business administration in Freiburg , Hamburg and Cologne and was at the RWTH Aachen Dr. rer. pole. PhD . From 1966 to 1971 he worked for Bayer AG for the first time in the areas of organization, auditing and accounting. In 1971 he moved to the Bayer holding company Duisburger Kupferhütte and from there returned in 1981 to the parent company. In 1984 he became head of the regional coordination, corporate auditing and controlling departments . In 1987 he was promoted to the board of directors and became chairman in 1992. At the 2002 Annual General Meeting, he handed over his position to Werner Wenning and became the company's supervisory board chairman. He held this office until 2012. Between 1999 and 2001, Schneider was President of the Association of the Chemical Industry .

Between May 1, 2009 and April 20, 2016, Schneider was Chairman of the Supervisory Board at RWE AG. From May 27, 2003 to May 20, 2016 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Linde AG . He was also a member of the supervisory boards of Daimler and TUI and the joint advisory board of the Allianz companies . He resigned from the Metro AG Supervisory Board in March 2008. The German Protection Association for Securities Ownership therefore sees him as the most important German shareholder representative and a symbol of Deutschland AG . Schneider was also chairman of the board of trustees of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation .

From his work as Chairman of the Supervisory Board in 2011, he received a total of 249,000 euros at the energy company RWE, 270,000 euros at Bayer AG and 417,000 euros at Linde AG.
