Manfred Schumacher (politician, 1938)

Manfred Schumacher (born March 19, 1938 in Grönwohld ) is a German pharmacist and local politician .

Life

Schumacher passed his Abitur at the Stormarn School in Ahrensburg in 1957 and studied in Kiel up to his doctorate. He then started his own business as a pharmacist in Eckernförde until he took over the pharmacy in Trittau in 1969.

Since 1955 Schumacher worked on a voluntary basis for the German Red Cross (DRK), in 1962 he was elected to the board of the Trittau local association of the DRK, of which he was first chairman from 1984. In 2002 he was elected assessor in the Stormarn district association of the DRK and was its vice-president from 2004 to 2014.

Schumacher was significantly involved in setting up the rescue service in Trittau and set up a full-time rescue station . He also set up a social station in the Trittau community and expanded it into a service company. It is thanks to him that the social station, rescue station and the local association with office and training rooms are now housed under one roof.

From 1969 to 2000, Schumacher ran the "Alte Apotheke" in Trittau as a tenant. He was active in local politics as a community representative in Trittau and from 1970 to 1975 head of the Trittau office .

He was honored for his extraordinary social and voluntary commitment. For his 60 years of service for the DRK, he received the regional association's medal of honor. The Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Peter Harry Carstensen, presented him with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on March 18, 2009 in the Lübeck Town Hall .
