Manjit Singh Chahal (born September 1, 1989 in Ujhana , Haryana ) is an Indian athlete who specializes in the 800 and 1500 meter run .

Athletic career

Manjit Singh gained his first international experience at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi , where he reached the semi-finals over 800 meters. In 2013 he finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Pune in 1: 49.70 min. It was not until 2018 that he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta again, where he surprisingly won over 800 meters in 1: 46.15 minutes ahead of his compatriot Jinson Johnson . He also finished fourth in the 1500 meter run in 3: 46.57 minutes.

Singh's father, Randhir Singh Chahal, was active as a shot putter himself.
