Coordinates: 33 ° 48 ′ S , 151 ° 17 ′ E Manly Council was a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Manly belonged to the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area was 15 km² and had about 40,000 inhabitants. In 2016, the newly founded Northern Beaches Council took over.
Manly is located on the Pacific coast north of the mouth of Sydney Harbor on North Harbor about 10 km northeast of the city center. The area includes 19 neighborhoods: Balgowlah Heights, Clontarf, Dobroyd Head, Eastern Hill, Fairlight, Fairy Bower, Forty Baskets Beach, Little Manly, Manly , Manly East, Manly West, North Head, Seaforth, North Steyne, South Steyne and parts of Balgowlah, North Balgowlah, Bantry Bay and North Seaforth. The council is headquartered in Manly on the coast.

The Manly Council has twelve members, eleven councilors and a chairman and mayor are elected by the residents of the LGA. Manly is not divided into districts.
