“Symbolically condensed images and sculptures reduced to the essentials of touching intensity and great sensuality, which demand exactly what they are ready to convey from their viewer, a completely extraordinary level of sensitivity. Always strict in terms of form and a tremendously exciting range of encrypted messages in terms of content, Lindner's unobtrusive yet moving creations are among the most expressive that Austrian contemporary art has to offer. "

As early as the 1980s, Mano H. Lindner was one of the great young hopes on the Austrian art scene. He won several competitions (e.g. Prize of the State of Carinthia at the 21st Austrian Graphics Competition, 1988) and was able to attract the attention of the art scene with highly acclaimed solo and group exhibitions. Just as he was preparing to establish himself in the Austrian art scene and to become a fixture, he was gripped by doubts about getting caught up in the constraints, necessities and concessions. Step by step he withdrew to his studio in northern Lower Austria and only after several years could his friends persuade him to exhibit again.

From 1991 he took over the artistic supervision of intellectually handicapped people in the Caritas Home Retz and tried hard to make the results of this work accessible to the public. The works of the Retz artists were presented in large exhibitions.
