Manoj Sinha
Manoj Sinha ( Hindi मनोज सिन्हा , born July 1, 1959 in Mohanpura, Ghazipur District , Uttar Pradesh , India ) is an Indian politician.
biography
Manoj Sinha was born in a small village in the Ghazipur district in eastern Uttar Pradesh, right on the border with the neighboring state of Bihar . His parents were Birendra Kumar Singh and Vrindvashini Devi. The family belongs to the Hindu - caste of Bhumihar , which is ranked among the "advanced box" in Uttar Pradesh. Sinha received his education on site and in Allahabad . He then studied Civil Engineering ( Civil Engineering ) at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) in Varanasi , where he the degree of Bachelor of Technology ( B. Tech acquired). Since the 1980s he was politically active in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the all-Indian parliamentary elections in 1996 , he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in the constituency 50-Ghazipur . In the following election in 1998 he was defeated in this constituency by his opponent from the Samajwadi Party (SP), was able to win the constituency again in the 1999 election, but lost there again in 2004 against the SP candidate. In the 2009 parliamentary elections he ran unsuccessfully in the 72-Ballia constituency in Uttar Pradesh, but was successful again in Ghazipur in the 2014 election.
From 1999 to 2000 he was a member of the parliamentary committees for energy and for state insurance. In the government under Prime Minister Narandra Modi , which was newly formed after the 2014 election , he became Minister of State (State Secretary) in the Ministry of Railways. As part of a cabinet reshuffle on July 5, 2016, he was also given an independent area of responsibility as Minister of State in the Ministry of Communications.
After the parliamentary elections in Uttar Pradesh 2017, which were extremely successful for the BJP, he was seen in the Indian press as one of the most promising candidates for the post of future Chief Minister.
Sinha has been married to Neelam Sinha since 1989 and has a son and a daughter with her.
