Manu Delago (born July 31, 1984 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian hang player , percussionist and composer. The musician, who lives in London, is best known for his hang solo 'Mono Desire', which has been clicked millions of times online and was voted one of the top 30 best-rated music videos on YouTube .

biography

At the age of 2 he was already on the drums, at 6 he took accordion lessons and at 10 in piano and marimbaphone. At home in the world of rock, Manu Delago was already playing drums in various bands at the age of 14 and shaped them in his own way, repeatedly abandoning clichés and crossing borders. While attending the Musikgymnasium in Innsbruck, he played hundreds of performances with artists from various genres such as HotchPotch, Zabine, The Next Step or the star band winners Michael Tschuggnall and Nadine Beiler .

After studying percussion at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and at the Mozarteum University, he moved to London, where he studied jazz drums at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. During this time Manu Delago specialized in the musical instrument hang . With the discovery of this new sound sculpture, Manu Delago began to compose more and more, founded his own ensembles and since 2007 has given concerts in over 20 countries on 5 continents.

In 2010 he took part in the shooting of the movie Days that Stay , directed by Pia Strietmann. In addition, the slope forms the basis of parts of the score. The film was released in German cinemas on January 26, 2012.

In 2006 Manu Delago founded Living Room , the world's first bass clarinet hang duo, together with Christoph Pepe Auer . Since then, the “extraordinary living room” has released two albums and entered a. in London, Berlin, Madrid, Vienna, Budapest as well as in Zimbabwe, Canada, USA, Mauritius and China. In the Living Room in London project , the duo is complemented by a string trio from London (Ellie Fagg, Tom Norris, Gregor Riddell).

Another main project, Manu Delago Handmade , builds on the intense dynamism and versatility of the ensemble. The trio consists of Isa Kurz (vocals, violin and piano), Philipp Moll (bass) and Manu Delago, who plays drums in addition to Hang.
