Manuel Gálvez

Manuel Gálvez (born July 18, 1882 in Paraná , Entre Ríos province , † November 14, 1962 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine historian and writer.

Life

Gálvez comes from the upper middle class of his country. His family were wealthy landowners and one of his ancestors, Juan de Garay, was instrumental in founding Buenos Aires.

He completed his school days at the Jesuit college in his hometown; then he went to the capital at the local university a . a. Law to study. In 1904 he was able to successfully complete this course.

Manuel Gálvez died at the age of 86 on November 14, 1962 in Buenos Aires, where he found his final resting place in the La Recoleta cemetery .

Honors

A memorial was erected in his honor in the Recoleta district (Buenos Aires) on Plaza Vicente López .

reception

Together with Ricardo Rojas, Gálvez is one of the most important representatives of the Hispanidad movement, who are focusing on returning to their Spanish roots and thus turning to Spain and, in a broader sense, Europe.
