history

By applying for a building fund on May 9, 1916 at the cathedral chapter , the church administration of the lower city manifested its intention to build a church. First, a wooden emergency church was built west of today's church, which was consecrated on June 13, 1920. The parish of St. Anton was created on December 1, 1921, when it was separated from the parish of Niedermünster . Furthermore, the services in the emergency church were full. The foundation stone of the church was laid on July 21, 1927 by Bishop von Henle . After a competition, the church was designed by the architect Karl Schmid sen. built. After a relatively short construction period, it was consecrated on November 11, 1928 by Bishop Michael Buchberger . In May 1943 the tower was painted olive green for camouflage purposes. Remnants of this color can still be seen today. The minor war damage of March 13, 1945 could be removed quickly.

A new parish center was created on the northeastern property line, which was inaugurated on December 9, 2013.
