Manuel Vermeer (born April 6, 1961 in Iserlohn ) is a German sinologist and management consultant.

Vermeer is the owner of the management consultancy Dr. Vermeer-Consult and advises German companies in India and China.

biography

Manuel Vermeer was born in Iserlohn in 1961 to an Indian mother and the German linguistics professor Hans Josef Vermeer (1930-2010).

He studied classical and modern Sinology with Günther Debon at the Institute for Sinology at the University of Heidelberg, as well as Romance studies with a focus on Spanish and did his doctorate on the Chinese special economic zone of Hainan .

Vermeer worked as an interpreter on two state visits by the Chinese Prime Minister and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China to the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 1985 and 1986. He also trained Chinese interpreters at the Germersheim Interpreting Institute at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

Since 1988 he has been a lecturer in Marketing East Asia, Chinese language (general language and technical language business), culture and economics at the East Asia Institute at Ludwigshafen University . In this role he was co-author of a Chinese textbook at the East Asia Institute.

He also runs his management consultancy Dr. Vermeer Consult. He advises European companies in the Asian business, primarily China and India, with a focus on recruiting, management, strategy, intercultural management, leadership and coaching. He teaches at numerous universities in Germany, Denmark, Spain, India, China, etc. In addition, he is a key note speaker at home and abroad and a.
