Manuela Rousseau (* 1955 in Neumünster ) is a German supervisory board member , professor and book author . She is considered an expert in fundraising .

Rousseau was born the daughter of a train driver and a seamstress . During her childhood she lived with her grandparents for a while.

Rousseau is married to Hans-Jürgen Schriever. The couple lives in Hamburg.

career

After completing secondary school , Rousseau completed an apprenticeship as a retail saleswoman and from 1974 initially worked for Ernst Brinkmann in Hamburg. Together with two partners, she founded a 1,979 retailers for consumer electronics . This meanwhile had more than two dozen employees and three branches, but ran into difficulties after a few years. As a result, Rousseau began a traineeship in public relations for Teldec Records in 1982 .

In 1984 Rousseau finally came to Beiersdorf , where she initially worked as a buyer for laboratory chemicals before moving to communications at the consumer goods company. There she held various positions and rose to deputy group spokeswoman . Rousseau later took over the management of the newly established Corporate Social Responsibility department .

In 1994, Rousseau applied for a mandate on the Beiersdorf Supervisory Board for the first time , lost the election and was elected to the supervisory body by his colleagues at the second attempt in 1999. In 2009 she also joined the supervisory board of Maxingvest , the holding company for Beiersdorf and Tchibo . In 2019, Manuela Rousseau was confirmed for a fifth term on the Beiersdorf Supervisory Board and shortly afterwards became the first woman to be elected deputy chairwoman of the board.

In addition to her work for Beiersdorf, Rousseau worked as a journalist , including as a freelance editor for the Hamburg local editorial team of the Bild newspaper. She also taught as a lecturer in the course culture and media management at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . She was later appointed professor with a focus on fundraising, management and public relations. Examples of her social commitment are her commitment to the associations “New Generation” and “Save the Nikolaikirche”. She is also a member of the advisory boards of the Hamburger Universitätsgesellschaft and the Hamburger Kunsthalle as well as the board of trustees of the Randstad Foundation.

In addition, Rousseau has been campaigning for women in leadership for many years, including by supporting the initiative women on supervisory boards and as a member of Zonta International , a global association of working women in responsible positions.
