Manuela Wiesler

Manuela Wiesler (born July 22, 1955 in Itapiranga , † December 22, 2006 in Vienna ) was an Austrian flautist .

Wiesler, who was born in Brazil as the daughter of an Austrian cameraman and a dancer , came to Vienna with her family in 1957, where she studied at the Music Academy from 1967 to 1971. She continued her training in Paris with Alain Marion . In 1973 she moved to Iceland . In 1976 she won the Nordic Chamber Music Competition in Helsinki . She made her debut in London three years later, and in 1980 she appeared at the Copenhagen Biennale .

After living in Sweden for a few years, she returned to Vienna in 1985. Her repertoire focused on the works of Nordic composers from Carl Nielsen to Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson and Ketil Hvoslef , but she also recorded works by André Jolivet , Marin Marais , Claude Debussy and Jean Françaix .
