María Dolores Fernández Pradera (born August 29, 1924 in Madrid ; † May 28, 2018 there ) was a Spanish singer and actress. She was also known under the names María Dolores and La Pradera .

Life

María Dolores Pradera was the daughter of a Spanish businessman. She spent her childhood in Spain and Chile.

She began her professional career as a stage actress and took part in several famous Spanish films in the 1940s: ¡A mí la legión! (1942), La Lola se va a los puertos (1947) and Agustina de Aragón (1950).

Her acting took a back seat when she began to sing professionally in the 1950s. She has recorded more than 35 albums. Her focus was on traditional Spanish and Latin American musical styles: Bolero , Copla , Ballad , Ronda , Fado , Waltz and folk music from Peru , Argentina , Mexico and Venezuela .

Her voice was clear and a little deep. She had a very clear Spanish pronunciation. Usually she was accompanied by guitar , requinto and drums .

For 30 years, María Pradera sang with the group Los Gemelos (The Twins), which consisted of the twins Santiago and Julián López Hernández , until Santiago's death in the early 1990s.

Pradera was married to the actor Fernando Fernán Gómez from 1947 to 1959 ; they had two children: Elena and Fernando.
