María José Pueyo ( María José Pueyo Bergua ; born March 16, 1970 in Jaca ) is a Spanish long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

In 2000, she finished fourth on her debut in the San Sebastián Marathon . She was also fourth in the 2003 Frankfurt Marathon in 2:39:08 h. The following year she was seventh in the Rotterdam Marathon and won in San Sebastián. In 2005 she was the overall winner of the Maratón Martín Fiz in Vitoria-Gasteiz national champion, came in 25th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton and defended her title in San Sebastián.

In 2006 she was tenth at the Hamburg Marathon and finished 27th at the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg .

A ninth place in Hamburg and a second place at the Saragossa Marathon in 2007 was followed by the second national title in 2008, which she achieved with her overall victory at the Valencia Marathon in her personal best of 2:32:22 h. She qualified thereby for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Beijing , in which she came in 64th place.

In 2009 she became the Spanish champion in the 10 km road race and won it for the third time in San Sebastián.

María José Pueyo is 1.72 m tall and weighs 52 kg. She is trained by José Fernando García and is currently starting for Montaña Sabiñánigo.
