María de León Bello y Delgado died in the monastery on February 15, 1731. It is reported that before she died, she fell into ecstasy, her pupils remained clear, and her pulse could still be felt for 24 hours. Beneath her heart was the stigma of Christ's wound on the side. Three years after her death, her body was exhumed because the shipowner Amaro Pargo wanted to donate a wooden coffin. Her body was found almost intact and, according to contemporary reports, emitted a scent of jasmine. Since then, every year on February 15th (the anniversary of her death), her relics have been displayed in a full-body glass reliquary. Thousands of believers from different parts of Spain come to this celebration. The beatification process of Marías de León Bello y Delgado was opened.
