Marc Berthomieu
Marc Berthomieu (born December 9, 1906 in Marseille , † March 11, 1991 in Paris ) was a French composer .
Life
Berthomieu studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and received a prize for fugue and harmony there; his teachers there included André Gedalge , Noël Gallon and Henri Busser . He later worked as a music teacher, also worked for radio and television and in 1962 founded the “Conservatoire Municipal du XVe arrondissement de Paris”. In 1975 the SACEM awarded him a prize for his complete works, followed in 1977 by the Prix Maurice Yvain of the Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD) for his operettas.
Berthomieu's compositional work, which is committed to neoclassicism , includes stage works (operas and operettas), chamber music (especially for flute, cello and violin) and songs. Only a little is available on phonograms. In 2014 a CD with songs ( Mélodies sur des poèmes d'Henry Jacqueton ) was released on the Hybrid'Music label.
