Marc Brandel
Marc Brandel (born March 28, 1919 as Marcus Beresford in London , † November 16, 1994 in Santa Monica , California ) was a British author and television producer .
Life
Between 1937 and 1938 he attended St Catharine's College in Cambridge , then he was at Westminster College from 1939 to 1940 . During the Second World War he worked for the British merchant navy . After the war, he began writing his first novel, Rain Before Seven . In 1948 he was on a scholarship for Yaddo in the USA and fell in love with Patricia Highsmith . He described the unfulfilled love in the key novel The Choice, which is open to Highsmith . In 1960 he changed his birth name to Marc Brandel. He was also chairman of Dover Film Production and a member of the PEN association.
He was married to Ruda Podemska and had three children. He lived in Santa Monica from 1989 until his death in 1994.

He became famous with the novel Rain Before Seven , which was published in 1945. The film The Hand, produced by Orion Pictures in 1981, emerged from his novel The Lizard's Tail , published in 1979 . In German-speaking countries he is best known for his novels for the American book series The Three Investigators , better known as The Three ??? .

He also wrote the play The Man Who Let It Rain , which premiered in 1964 at the Theater Royal Drury Lane in London . He has also worked for various newspapers such as Colliers , Atlantic Monthly , New York Times and the Cosmopolitan .
Movie and TV
In addition to his work as a book author, he wrote screenplays for several television series, including Double Trouble , Kraft Theater , Playhouse 90 , Amos Burke , The Alfred Hitchcock Hour , Honey West , Barnaby Jones and Fantasy Island . He also produced five episodes of the British television series ITV Playhouse (1st season) .
