Marc Edwards (TV presenter)

Marc Edwards (born November 11, 1980 in Paris , France ) is a Welsh and Chinese television presenter for China Central Television and France 24 . He currently presents Travelogue on CCTV Documentary (CCTV-9) and CCTV News . He was also the male announcer in French and English for the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Summer Olympics in 2012.

Life

Edwards was born on November 11, 1980 in Paris to a Welsh father and a Malaysian-Chinese mother and is fluent in French , Mandarin and English . He lived in Paris for the first seven years of his life, before attending Prestfelde School in Shrewsbury and then Radley College in Oxfordshire , England. He studied modern languages ​​and economics at Durham University and worked in London and Paris before moving to China. While studying for a degree in business, Italian and French, he hosted his own show on the university radio station Purple FM.

Edwards was hired from China Central Televisions (CCTV) English language channel CCTV News in 2007 , where he hosts the travel magazine Travelogue.

His first series was a three-part series in association with National Geographic Traveler magazine Trends. Here he traveled by car along the legendary Tea and Horse Trail from Lijiang in Yunnan to Lhasa in Tibet. Episode 2 of the series won the award for best documentary at the annual CCTV Awards 2008.

He hosted Travelogue's "Being Beijing" series and mini-series that promoted and aired the 2008 Beijing Olympics . Sights, food and drink as well as the preparations for this event were the focus.

In 2009, Edwards presented CCTV's first ever travel show ever filmed in Taiwan, for which he toured the island for three weeks. The five-part series was the first major travel magazine ever to be shot in collaboration between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan.

In 2010 he was selected to host the Travelogue series “Shanghai, Shanghai”, which was supposed to show what sights there are in the city to get the attendees of the World Expo in Shanghai in the mood. In the series, he also created a two-part guide to the entertainment program for the event. The series aired throughout Expo 2010 .

In 2010 Edwards also presented the Miss World Bikini Finals for CCTV News. The competition takes place annually in Beihai. The episode of Travelogue is a guide to this seaside resort.

Edwards presents the Technology Show, Tech 24, on France's international news channel France 24.

Marc Edwards was the stadium announcer in English and French for Danny Boyle's 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. He was also the stadium announcer at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.
