Marc Kunz (born January 17, 1988 ) nickname: MVP-Bommes , is a German beach handball professional and sports function in the beach handball committee of the German Handball Federation and organizer of the German Beach Open . During his active time as a beach handball player, Kunz won the German championship with his beach handball team BHC Beach & da Gang in 2018 and 2019 and was named Most Valuable Player and Top Goalscorer in 2017 . Kunz has been the top scorer in German beach handball for several years.

Marc Kunz comes from the Rhein-Main area and began playing handball as a child in 1994 at his home club TSG Münster . Due to his height of 1.79 m, he began his career in goal, as he was always able to make up for his missing height with excellent reflexes. As he announced in a newspaper interview, the annual preparations are not one of his personal highlights. As a player for TSG Münster, he played for many years in both the 3rd division and the Oberliga Hessen.

Beach handball career

As the founder of his beach handball club BHC Beach & da Gang, Kunz has not only been a top player since 2006, but is also the club's president and team captain . He led his club to the top of German beach handball and was able to hold it there for many years. As a player, he is known for his accuracy, dynamism and strong nerves. Unlike many other beach handball players, he can be used on the left as well as the right attack side and is therefore particularly difficult to calculate for his opponents.

National

His greatest sporting successes are the German beach handball championship in 2018 with his Beach & da Gang team, which he was able to defend in the following year 2019. In an interview, Kunz stated that he was "more established" and "more calm in the decisive situations" than the young team of final opponents BHC Hurricanes.
