Marc Kunz (born January 17, 1988 ) nickname: MVP-Bommes , is a German beach handball professional and sports function in the beach handball committee of the German Handball Federation and organizer of the German Beach Open . During his active time as a beach handball player, Kunz won the German championship with his beach handball team BHC Beach & da Gang in 2018 and 2019 and was named Most Valuable Player and Top Goalscorer in 2017 . Kunz has been the top scorer in German beach handball for several years.

Marc Kunz comes from the Rhein-Main area and began playing handball as a child in 1994 at his home club TSG Münster . Due to his height of 1.79 m, he began his career in goal, as he was always able to make up for his missing height with excellent reflexes. As he announced in a newspaper interview, the annual preparations are not one of his personal highlights. As a player for TSG Münster, he played for many years in both the 3rd division and the Oberliga Hessen.
Beach handball career
As the founder of his beach handball club BHC Beach & da Gang, Kunz has not only been a top player since 2006, but is also the club's president and team captain . He led his club to the top of German beach handball and was able to hold it there for many years. As a player, he is known for his accuracy, dynamism and strong nerves. Unlike many other beach handball players, he can be used on the left as well as the right attack side and is therefore particularly difficult to calculate for his opponents.
National
His greatest sporting successes are the German beach handball championship in 2018 with his Beach & da Gang team, which he was able to defend in the following year 2019. In an interview, Kunz stated that he was "more established" and "more calm in the decisive situations" than the young team of final opponents BHC Hurricanes.
His personal successes include being named Most Valuable Player 2017 (MVP, German: Most Valuable Player ) and top scorer of the German Championship 2017, in which his team won the runner-up championship. Because of his MVP award, Kunz is nicknamed "MVP-Bommes" and is known for this in the beach scene. In 2019, his silhouette gave shape to the German Championship Cup and Kunz adorned other trophies with pictures incorporated into glass, which were awarded as personal honors by the German Handball Federation.
In 2017, Kunz was appointed to the national team by the national coach.
International
With his team BHC Beach & da Gang, Kunz qualified for the 2017 EBT Finals in Gaeta, Italy, the country of origin of pizza, and achieved seventh place there, which Kunz was very satisfied with.
As German champions, his team has also qualified for the Champions Cup in 2018 and 2019, which will take place in Catania / Sicily .
Coaching career
In 2019 he trained the A-youth team of Beach & da Gang and won another German runner-up in the junior division.
Functionary career
As a beach pioneer and organizer of the largest and most prestigious tournament of the German Beach Open, the Beach Karacho Cup in Kelkheim-Münster, Kunz is personally responsible for transforming the Beach Karacho Cup from a small suburban tournament into the first point of contact for both national and international Teams from all over Europe.
Kunz was appointed to the beach committee of the German Handball Federation in 2018. Kunz is also fighting to make beach handball Olympic by 2022.
Kunz caused a sensation in 2018 when he publicly criticized the new game mode on the sidelines of the German championship tournament in Berlin and described it as a " no-go ".
Private
Kunz has been living privately for several years in his home in the Rhein Main area. He values a healthy lifestyle, which he tries to draw attention to by initiating various campaigns on the fringes of the German Beach Open such as “Rauchfrei Beachen” or “Alcohol, know your limit”.
Kunz has two brothers, of whom the elder T. Kunz is also active in the BHC Beach & da Gang team.
