Marcel Cohen (born in Asnières-sur-Seine in 1937 ) is a French writer.

Life

Marcel Cohen grew up in a family of Turkish Jews in Paris in which Ladino was spoken as the third language . He was five years old when his sister, born in May 1943, and his parents were arrested by the Gestapo before his eyes in the 8th arrondissement and then, like his grandparents, two uncles and a great-aunt, were taken with transport no. December 1943 were deported to Auschwitz concentration camp , where they fell victim to the Holocaust while it was hidden by the maid and friends of the family.

Cohen studied art and journalism at the École supérieure de journalisme de Paris and the École du Louvre . He has worked as a journalist in India, the Middle East, Latin America and the USA and in North Africa. He writes for magazines, art galleries and museums. In 1969 his first novel Galpa was published . He has published several volumes of short stories in almost aphoristic brevity. In 1981 he conducted several interviews with Edmond Jabès . He completed the Faits trilogy in 2010.

In 2013 he received the Prix ​​Wepler-Fondation La Poste for Sur la scène intérieure: faits and in 2014 the Prix ​​Jean Arp de littérature francophone for his complete works .
