    Marcelino (Original title: Marcelino, pan y vino ) is a Spanish cartoon series about an orphan boy who grows up in a monastery . In Germany the broadcast took place on KiKA . The series is based on the book published by Josè Maria Sanchez-Silva , which was filmed in 1955 under the title The Secret of Marcellino .

    The little orphan boy Marcelino grew up in a monastery where he was raised by monks . He doesn't know who he actually is and is amazed how he got into the care of the monks. Later he gets to know the gypsy girl Candela and meets with her. She knows a lot about Marcelino and tells him that he was dumped in front of the monastery as a baby. There a wild boar actually wanted to attack Marcelino, but he was saved in time by the monastery dog ​​Leo and so came to the monks. Still, he wants to know who his mother is.

    The series was produced for the Spanish TV channel TF1 from 2000 to 2004 and first broadcast on August 29, 2001. The German first broadcast took place on July 1, 2002 on KIKA . Two seasons with 52 episodes were produced. Eva Thärichen sang the German theme song. Directed by Xavier Picard and Santiago Moro. On screenplay were Jaime de Armiñán , Gregorio Muro, Xavier Picard, Josè Maria Sanchez-Silva , Philippe Tierney, Peter Berts, Marie-Pierre Losfeld and Pascal Meunier involved.

    On December 24, 2003, the 75-minute film A Very Special Day was broadcast for the first time at KIKA. The series was later also broadcast on ORF eins and TV5 Monde .
