Marcia Gilbert-Roberts

Marcia Gilbert-Roberts (born October 31, 1950 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican diplomat .

Life

Marcia Gilbert-Roberts is fluent in English, French, German and Spanish. In 1973 she completed a teacher training course at the University of the West Indies in Mona (Jamaica) . Since 1975 she is the master of psycholinguistics at the University of Franche-Comté in Besançon . In July 1976, she joined the foreign service. From 1986 to 1991 she was Deputy Director in the Foreign Office. From 1991 to 1996 she was Deputy High Commissioner in London with the rank of Envoy . From 1996 to 1998 she was director in the Foreign Office.

From 2002 to 2007 she was ambassador in Bonn , at the same time she was accredited to the Holy See in Berlin (December 13, 2002), in Tel Aviv , The Hague , Prague , Bratislava , Warsaw (March 14, 2003) and Bern .

From October 2007 to December 2011 she was permanent representative at UNESCO in Paris. From May 29, 2008 to December 3, 2012 she was Ambassador in Brussels and was accredited to the European Commission with the governments in Paris (January 26, 2009), Luxembourg, Monaco, The Hague , Lisbon and Madrid .

In Brussels, she was involved in the negotiations on a follow-up agreement to the Cotonou Agreement , which will expire in 2020 . In 2005 she was awarded a Grand Cross of the Order of St. Gregory by John Paul II . In 2011 she was awarded the Order of Distinction with the rank of Commander .
