Marcin Dołęga (born July 18, 1982 in Łuków ) is a Polish weightlifter who starts for the team of Zawisza Bydgoszcz .
Career
At the beginning of his international weightlifting career, Marcin Dolega was banned from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) from 2004 to 2006 for doping for 2 years. Marcin Dołęga was 2006 in Santo Domingo world champion in the duel with 415 kg and in jerking with 222 kg, as well as vice world champion in snatch with 193 kg in the class up to 105 kg. At the 2007 World Championships in Chiang Mai, after three invalid attempts in snatching, he was unable to get into the duel and in jerking he reached 4th place behind Nikolaos Kourtidis because of his higher body weight. As a world record holder in snatching with 199 kg, Dołęga competed as a medal favorite at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. After 195 kg in the first attempt to tear, Dołęga tried the world record load of 200 kg, but could not cope with it, unlike Andrej Aramnau . Dolega then increased to 201 kg, which he had to drop again. He started pushing with 225 kg and then tried twice in vain at 228 kg, which means the bronze medal for him, after Dmitri Lapikov was suspended for doping.
At the 2009 World Championships in Goyang, Dolega was world champion in snatch with 195 kg, in jerk with 226 kg and in duel with 421 kg.
doping
Dolega has tested positive for doping agents twice in his career. At the beginning of his career he was therefore banned from 2004 to 2006. In November 2014, he tested positive for the anabolic steroid norandrosterone . He was therefore not allowed to compete at the 2014 World Championships in Almaty in Kazakhstan. The world association banned him for two years until 2016.
