Marco Antonio Gilmetti
Marco Antonio Gilmetti , also Marcantonio Gilmetti (* around 1662 in Como , Italy ; † September 3, 1730 in Čachrov , Bohemia ) was a Bohemian builder of the Baroque. He worked exclusively in the Klattauer Kreis.
Live and act
Gilmetti came from Como in northern Italy and came to south-west Bohemia at a young age. There is evidence of it in Ronsperg since 1684 . On January 22nd, 1686, the Wall Marco Antonio Gilmett married Barbara Spinnerl, a daughter of the Ronsperger butcher and councilor Johann Spinnerl, with whom he had a son Nikolaus. From 1709 Gilmetti lived in Unter Neuern . In the Theresian cadastre of 1713 he is listed as a master builder in Unter Neuern and owner of two farms. Gilmetti died of a stroke while redesigning the Church of St. Wenceslas in Čachrov .
Gilmetti's first major project in Bohemia was probably the plans to rebuild the Old Castle in Chudenice . His work primarily includes baroque church buildings, which, like the Dominican church in Klatovy, also show influences from the northern Italian Renaissance.
