Marco De Filippo Roia (born August 2, 1990 in Auronzo di Cadore ) is an Italian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with SG Cortina in the Alps Hockey League since 2016 .

Career

Marco De Filippo began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior division of SG Cortina . At the age of 16 he went to Canada, where he played for lower-class youth teams for two years. From 2008 to 2010 he was on the ice for Kent School in the United States High School Preparatory. During his studies he played from 2010 to 2014 for the Brown Bears , the student team at Brown University , in ECAC Hockey , a conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With the Brown Bears he reached the conference final in 2013, which was lost to the Union College team with 1: 3. After graduating, he joined the Louisiana IceGators in the Southern Professional Hockey League for a year .

After his return to Italy, De Filippo rejoined his home club, SG Cortina , and has played for them in the Alps Hockey League ever since .

International

For Italy De Filippo took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2007 and 2008 .

De Filippo made his debut for the Italian national team in the 2016/17 season . He took part in a major tournament for the first time at the 2018 World Cup in Division I and immediately scored the lowest conceding rate and, after the Kazakhs Henrik Karlsson and the Hungarian Ádám Vay, the third-best catch quota of the tournament and thus contributed significantly to the promotion of the Italians to the top Division.
