Marco Leonardo Oreggia (born August 1, 1986 in Berlin-Steglitz ) is a former Austrian cyclist .

Career

Marco Oreggia drove in the youth area for the RC Arbö Rapso Knittelfeld . During this time he won a gold medal and two silver medals at the Austrian road championships. In 2004 he had to undergo heart surgery. In 2005 he became a professional with the Continental Team RC Arbö Resch & Frisch Wels . His strength was the sprint .

In 2006, Oreggia won the bronze medal at the national road racing championships of the U23 class. This year he competed in the Giro delle Regioni in Italy and the Tour of Slovenia . He achieved his last leading position in the U23 race Trofeo Bianchin in Treviso with fifth place. He qualified for the road world championships in Salzburg . For this he was banned for two years because of a positive A test on EPO . His father attributed this finding to medication Oreggia was forced to take after his surgery. The former president of the Austrian cycling association Otto Flum said Oreggia was the victim of an organized crime.

In December 2006, Oreggia ended his cycling career. Oreggia then opened a trattoria in Bruck an der Mur , which he sold again in 2010.

He then became an entrepreneur and worked in network marketing. In 2017 he married Stefanie Oreggia. He has lived in Monaco with his family since 2020.
