Marcus von Eickstedt

Marcus von Eickstedt (also Marx von Eickstedt ; † September 29, 1661 in Stettin ) was a ducal Pomeranian politician, diplomat and civil servant.

Life

He came from the Pomeranian noble family von Eickstedt auf Rothenklempenow and was in the service of Duke Bogislaw XIV. From 1627 he sent him to various diplomatic missions, such as Emperor Ferdinand II. , Elector Georg Wilhelm of Brandenburg and Danish King Christian IV. In 1634 he princely Privy Councilor, governor in Ueckermünde and canon at the cathedral monastery of the Camminer cathedral .

After the griffin dukes died out in 1637 , he campaigned for the succession of the Brandenburg ruling house in Pomerania, which opposed the occupation of the country by Swedish troops during the Thirty Years War . The Pomeranian estates sent him together with Friedrich Runge in March 1644 and October 1645 to the peace negotiations in Osnabrück . After Pomerania was divided between Sweden and Brandenburg in the Peace of Westphalia , he apparently withdrew from politics.
