Marek Gierszał

Marek Gierszał (* 1962 in Toruń ) is a Polish film and theater actor and director .

Live and act

Gierszał was born in Poland in 1962 and studied acting at the State Theater School in Cracow . In 1988 he fled to Germany. Also in 1988, his son Jakub was born, who is now also known as an actor. In Germany, he first worked as an actor at the theater in Kiel and then completed a postgraduate course in film directing at the University of Hamburg .

As a theater director, Gierszał staged the play Die Kleinbürgerhochzeit by Bert Brecht at the Theatron Hamburg in 1995 and the Polish premiere of The God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza at the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow in 2010 . As a feature film director, he directed the feature film Engel sucht Flügel for ARD .

In the play The Adventures of the Brave Soldier Schwejk (based on the book The Brave Soldat Schweijk ) Gierszał was seen as a theater actor from 2005 to 2008 in Berlin, Essen and other German cities. Since 2011 he has performed at the Rozrywki Theater in Chorzów . As a film and television actor, he played a supporting role in the German children's and youth series Die Pfefferkörner from 2001 to 2009 . For the documentary John Law - The Man Who Turned Paper into Money , Gierszał wrote individual scenes from the film and starred in the lead role of John Law . In the Polish television series Wojenne dziewczyny , set at the time of the German occupation of Poland during World War II, Gierszał was cast in 2017 for the role of officer Moos.
