With the death of her brother, the title passed to her, but William called himself iure uxoris from that point onwards as Earl of Douglas and Mar and used this title until his death in 1384. Two children were born from this marriage: James (* around 1358; † August 5, 1388 at the Battle of Otterburn ), who took over the title of his father in May 1384 and carried both titles like this until his death; and Isabel (also Isabella), the later 11th Countess.

In the few surviving documents she described herself after the death of her husband, but still alive her son, even as Countess of Douglas, Lady of Mar and Garioch , while her, son, like his title used as Countess of Douglas and Mar Marked .

In her second marriage, before July 27, 1388, she married John Swinton of Swinton. John was referred to as Lord of Mar until his death on September 14, 1402 at the Battle of Homildon Hill , but never as Earl.
